Background/ Experience: ElChino Martin has over 20 years experience representing developers, investors and lenders in the acquisition, construction, financing and management of commercial real estate properties. He provides clients practical advice on a wide range of development endeavors including office and other commercial buildings, mixed-use developments, public-private partnerships and affordable housing.

In the Washington, DC region, projects that he has provided counsel on include: the Newseum, a world-class, interactive museum on Pennsylvania Avenue; Waterfront Station, a transit-oriented mixed development located at the Waterfront Metro Station; and United Medical Center in southeast Washington, DC, representing the owners in the acquisition and renovation of an important community hospital. As a result of his experience as Chief of Staff for the Office of the Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development under Mayor Anthony Williams, ElChino is able to offer clients guidance on a wide array of government programs and financing tools that can be an important component of development in the District of Columbia, including tax abatements, tax-increment financing, and the affordable housing trust fund.

Affiliations/ Community Involvement: ElChino is a member of the Washington Chapter of Lambda Alpha. He is a member of the District of Columbia and Virginia bars.

Education: EChino earned a B.A. degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and a J.D. degree from Yale Law School.
